.99999999......... = 1?

Today while thinking about PI and infinite numbers I came to the conclusion that 0.9999999.... (going on infinitely) = 1. Why?

1 / 3 = 0.333333333333333.......
3 * 3 = 9
0.3333333333333333....... * 3 = 0.9999999999999999...............

Thus, the math laws I thought I knew are put on trial. And lost.

UPDATE:: I googled this problem, and found this website: http://www.purplemath.com/modules/howcan1.htm
That puts it like this:
x = 0.999...
10x = 9.999...
10x - x = 9.999... - 0.999... = 9 = 9x
9x = 9
x = 1

4.0e30

Looking back at my first post, I noticed I said:
2 quadrillion squared (if anyone wants to calculate that, feel free.)
Given I'm the main follower of this blog, I decided to calculate that (aka type it into Google.)

All Google could tell me is it's 4.0e+30. A few years ago I would of given up at this point, mistaking the "e" for error. Later I learned that the "e+30" means x10^30 or that I should add 30 zeros to the end of the first number.

2 quadrillion squared is 4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 for all you who wondered (or just me.)

Epic websites!

In need of ideas

Why so hard found inspiration
In such a modern place
We have so much information
As the human race

Pictures worth a thousand words
Ideas worth much more
Because no matter what you heard
You don't know what's in store
